a year of trees

Works on Paper, 2025

These works reveal a turning point in my artistic evolution.

I have long been interested in finding my way to a visual intermingling of geometric and organic forms that reflect the experience of nature colliding with concept. After a three-month sabbatical earlier this year, I began experimenting with different ink applications and a new process came to light.

I call this collection-in-progress A Year of Trees because I’m in a constant state of wonder at the juniper and pine trees that surround my home and studio. Our daily communion has become a sanctuary for me in this challenging year and I can’t help feeling that this experience is guiding my creative journey.

The intricacies of my trees are embedded in this work, as are my own– and I’m humbled to bear daily witness their majestic frailty.

Each piece is below is an amalgam of acrylic ink and vinyl emulsion on heavy-weight archival paper.
