Christa Stephens (she/her) is an autistic artist whose works explore the natural world and our complex connection to it. Using a visual language of lyrical forms intermingled with geometric shapes, she creates highly pigmented abstract paintings that fuse perceptual experiences with a contemplative approach to artistic process. Christa holds a bachelor’s degree in music and grounds her visual practice in a synesthetic connection to the rhythmic and harmonic structures in musical theory. Imbued with her lifelong search for deeper meaning, her artworks delve into remote areas of the psyche where we encounter the mysterious order of all things.
Christa lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she maintains a multifarious creative practice and advocates strength-based narratives for herself and others on the autism spectrum. Her works have been exhibited in museums, galleries, and contemporary art centers throughout the southwestern United States.
